Books, Bikes, and Food

Reviews, Recipes, Rides… and some other things, too.

About

This blog originally started out as Liburuak, a blog dedicated to books. But as my life was changing, I wanted to blog about other things I care about – cooking, biking, and other, well, stuff. So Liburuak became Books, Bikes, and Food.

I’m a working girl and love my job, which requires quite a lot of travelling, so occasionally this blog may have to take a back seat. By day, I’m a political scientist. At other times, I like to read, cook, bike, exercise, and spend time with my wonderful partner and friends.

The Blog

Books

This is where you’ll find bookish posts, mainly reviews. I love literary fiction and this is mostly what I read, sprinkled with a bit of non-fiction and a range of other reading material. I love to read in the original language, so I focus on Spanish, English, and German-language literature. Lately, I’ve also been trying to branch out into new areas.

Bikes

Even though I live in a city where it mostly rains, I try to bike as much as I can. So when I post about biking here, it’s going to be mostly about biking for transport. I believe in biking in a suit, heels, and helmet (most of the time). This is my ride:

I call her “BB”, which stands for “Black Banana”, because she was made in East Germany and there is a certain stereotype about East Germans and Bananas (sorry, East German readers!) – just google it.

Food

I enjoy cooking. I live in a long-distance relationship, which means I mostly cook for myself. I also often try to cook for several days at once (the working girl routine). I try to eat well, but I don’t follow any specific diet and don’t have food intolerances. Often, I don’t even use recipes but just throw something together.

This would be the kind of thing I might eat on a given weeknight:

In this case, pasta with veg and a healthy dose of parmesan. Bon appetit!

  6. Hi! I know that you are already aware (I’m afraid I had to rush of to eat before I got a chance to tell you properly!) that I had chosen you for a blog award but it’s part of the rules to let you know anyway! So thanks for the great posts and keep up the good work! :)

  7. So glad you’ve been visiting me (and leaving insightful comments)! It’s good that you have so that now I know of your lovely blog. I’m off to add you to my list of Friends and Book Lovers, and I look forward to lots of lovely chats about books.

    • Thank you so much for stopping by! I’m looking forward to further bookish discussions too :) . I also just realised that I spelled the name of your blog wrong in my blogroll. How very embarrassing! Please excuse me while I shuffle off to correct that…
